 Data loss can be caused by many things - power spikes, virus infections, wear and tear - or just accidental deletion.
Often, when data is missing it's not the file itself that is gone - but the computer's index entry for it. In many cases we can recover lost / deleted files from hard drives, USB flash drives and memory cards (such as mobile phones and cameras).
IMPORTANT!
It is VITAL that you STOP using the device that contains the lost information IMMEDIATELY.
