MyDefrag is a free Windows program that allows you to defragment the hard drive.

As your computer opens and saves files repeatedly, they can become broken up and scattered over the hard drive. This means the computer takes longer to open programs and documents, as it has to collect the fragments first. Defragmenting allows the computer to put all the files back together and in an optimised order, resulting in better performance.
